Every year, holiday movie lovers wait for that moment when the twinkle lights come out, the cocoa warms up, and the comfort of seasonal storytelling fills the screen. OWN has made that feeling tradition. Now in its seventh year, the network’s cherished OWN For the Holidays event is returning with three new original films, each carrying its own spark of joy, humor, and heart. Beginning Saturday, November 29, audiences can ease into three consecutive Saturdays of feel-good entertainment that continue what OWN has become known for during the holiday season: stories that celebrate family, community, love, and the everyday beauty found in Black joy.

OWN president Tina Perry has long emphasized the network’s commitment to holiday films that reflect the lives and traditions of Black families. This year carries that same spirit forward, inviting viewers into narratives that are warm, relatable, and filled with the magic of connection. The lineup opens with “Fake Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” a playful story starring Kiki Layne as Maya, a reserved professor whose one small lie snowballs into a holiday she never expected. What begins as a harmless fib becomes a full family celebration, complicated by an unexpected reunion with her ex, played by Etienne Maurice.

The festivities continue on December 6 with “The Christmas Showdown.” Former best friends April and Chastity, played by Corbin Reid and Amber Stevens West, return home only to realize they are competing for the same job designing the Sugar Heights Christmas Eve Spectacular. Guided by Loretta Devine as the event producer, the two women have to decide whether their dreams are big enough to mend what once broke them. It’s a story about second chances, ambition, and the often complicated path to forgiveness.

OWN closes out the holiday trilogy on December 13 with “Very Merry Mystery,” a cozy whodunit starring Ashleigh Murray and Tristan Mack Wilds. Murray plays Bea, a hairstylist beloved in her small Georgia town and known for her over-the-top love of Christmas. When a holiday party takes a surprising turn and the host disappears, Bea teams up with her detective boyfriend to piece together the clues before the season’s spirit fades.

Across all three films, OWN continues its dedication to stories that center heart, healing, and cultural richness. These movies feel like an invitation to slow down, settle in, and remember the small joys that bring us closer during this time of year. Whether you’re watching with family, binging with friends, or catching the premieres solo with your favorite holiday snack, OWN For the Holidays is ready to bring the warmth.

Find your cozy spot and let OWN usher in the season.

As the season approaches, these films offer something more than holiday entertainment. They capture the familiar warmth of family gatherings, the comfort of healed relationships, and the joy of seeing love and community reflected on screen with intention.
