Dr. Shamarah J. Hutchins, also known as The Mindologist, is a clinical psychologist, transformational speaker, and mindset architect who is redefining what it means to care for your mental and emotional wellbeing.

“I always think about life holistically,” she shared on The Chundria Brownlow Show. “The Mindologist is just me bringing that clinical psychology together… understanding what’s in my control and not my control and just how I combine it all together within who I am as a person.”

Her approach is deeply personal. Raised by her grandmother, Dr. Hutchins says helping others has always been central to who she is. “She really told us no matter what, our family is our core,” she recalled. “Seeing other people happy makes me happy. And so that’s, I believe, my core value, along with family, but also helping others.” This passion for healing flows through her work and her writing. Dr. Hutchins’ HERology Trilogy began with The HERology of a Woman, a book that combined memoir with guided tools for navigating trauma and reclaiming strength. “It’s a little bit of a memoir of who I am, but it also gives tools… so it gives them a little therapy in the midst of it,” she explained.

On August 27, 2025, she will release Mindset Matters, the second book in the trilogy. Choosing the date was intentional: it honors the life of her late uncle, who she describes as a father figure and best friend. “I needed something that was gonna make me not continue to think of that day as a sad day,” she said. “I know that he will be so grateful and so excited that I’ve come so far.” Her message is clear: mindset is everything. “The one thing is some things are out of our control,” she said. “When we can control it, change it so that it won’t affect us long term.”

Dr. Hutchins also works closely with high-achieving women of color who face burnout, blurred boundaries, and the silent weight of unspoken emotions. Her advice: name what you feel. “Fine is not an emotion and okay is not an emotion,” she said. “The more we say the emotion that we’re feeling, the more we can train our brains to understand what that feeling feels like.” On emotional wellness, she is just as practical. “Emotional wellness is waking up saying three things you’re grateful for every day,” she said. “Self-care is very, very important. You could take five minutes to not do anything… just sit there and have a moment for yourself.” At home, those practices extend to her family. “Me and my family together at dinner, we always say what were three things we were grateful for that day,” she said. “That helps me re-ground myself as well.”

As Dr. Hutchins prepares for her book launch and a fall retreat, she sums up her current season in one word: “Elevation.”
