With more than 50 television, film, and stage credits to her name, Dr. Brely Evans has built a career defined by versatility, warmth, and undeniable talent. Audiences know her for her unforgettable characters and dynamic performances, but Dr. Brely’s newest chapter takes her behind the camera.
She is now stepping into the director’s chair with her debut film Divided. For Dr. Brely, this move is about more than career growth, it is about creating opportunities for others. Her transition into directing came from a realization that advice alone was not enough for her students. “I decided to be the answered prayer,” she explained. “My movie making master class was born… so that they would have something to use for their reel… and a line item for their resume.” The first project, Divided, included 37 actors who each received tailored roles that highlighted their strengths. Chicago played a key role in the film’s production. “I am forever in love with Chicago for just showing up for us,” she said. “The city really showed up.” For Evans, it was a reminder that storytelling thrives when rooted in collaboration and community.
Faith, she emphasized, has been her anchor in taking on this bold new chapter. “I’m so glad I took this leap of faith because it caused me to lean on God even more… it is very humbling and it’s also very freeing to jump off the cliff again.” For Evans, success is not measured in awards or accolades, but in the impact she leaves behind. “What success is to me is how many people can I put on,” she said. Her challenge to aspiring artists is simple but powerful: “Let’s not only learn the craft… but also be bomb at what you do”.
