Christian and Darla Torres are not your typical teenagers. At just 14, the siblings began selling hot coffee door to door in their Brighton Park neighborhood, using two thermoses and a bold idea. That idea became Tawney Coffee, a homegrown project that quickly gained momentum thanks to their consistency, charm, and community focus.
Now, the Torres siblings are working toward something even bigger—their first brick-and-mortar café. The location is set for 3055 W. Pope John Paul II Drive on Chicago’s southwest side. To help bring the space to life, they’ve launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $4,500 for renovations and equipment.
