CBS has announced the renewal of Beyond the Gates, its newest daytime drama, for a second season following a powerful first-year performance that has turned heads across the industry.

Since its February 24 premiere, the series has revitalized its weekday time slot, drawing 48 percent more broadcast viewers than the previous year. The show has also seen a 67 percent boost in multiplatform viewership and currently edges out ABC’s General Hospital by 7 percent among women ages 25 to 54, a key demographic for daytime television.

Set in a wealthy, gated community in suburban Maryland, Beyond the Gates introduces viewers to the Duprees, a prestigious multigenerational Black family whose polished exterior conceals a web of secrets, power plays, and scandal. The show peels back the layers of life among those who’ve made it—and those determined to break in. From tree-lined streets to high-stakes personal drama, the series has struck a chord with soap opera fans hungry for fresh storytelling rooted in legacy and intrigue.

The show is part of CBS’s daytime lineup alongside longtime staples The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, both of which continue to lead the ratings. But Beyond the Gates has quickly carved out its own space, blending tradition with modern narratives that reflect the lives and complexities of its characters.

Beyond the Gates is a CBS Studios and NAACP production in partnership with P&G Studios. It was created by veteran writer Michele Val Jean, who also serves as executive producer. The producing team includes Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thompson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner, and Anna Saalfeld.

The series airs weekdays on CBS from 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern (1 to 2 p.m. Pacific). Episodes are also available to stream on Paramount+ and CBS.com.
